WELCOME
Dr. Paul J. Donahue, Ph.D. is founder and
director of Child Development Associates (CDA) in Scarsdale, NY, a
practice specializing in young children and their families. He is the author of
"Parenting Without Fear" (St. Martin's Press, 2007), the
co-author of "Mental Health Consultation in Early Childhood"
and is frequently featured in the national media as a parenting expert. He was recently
profiled by The New York Times and appeared in Parents magazine, Newsday, The
Washington Post, and The Associated Press, as well as on
The CBS Early Show.
Dr. Donahue is also an accomplished speaker regularly conducting
lectures and workshops for parents, teachers and mental health professionals around
the country. He speaks to large groups and audiences at early childhood programs, elementary,
middle and high schools, mental health centers, community organizations and corporations. His
popular lectures focus on how parents and other adults can help children become happier,
more successful and more resilient. They include: Parenting Without Fear; What Kids Really
Need To Learn from Their Parents; Who's in Charge Here?; and Slowing Down: Preserving Family
Time and Family Values.
Dr. Donahue's goal is to help children become independent, learn how to work hard and
handle frustration, cooperate with peers and adults, and develop their imagination and
creativity. He helps parents articulate their own values and aspirations for their children,
and to look beyond the academic, athletic and social pressures they face. Dr. Donahue helps
parents to approach their role with confidence and courage, and to build a foundation for
their children that will serve them well throughout their lives.
